[Setup Time: 10 Min.] [Current Condition: Good]
A large, parallel-plate capacitor has one plate connected to ground and the other to an electroscope. The capacitor can be charged with an electrophorus, and the plate separation can be continuously varied.
1. Connect the capacitor in series with the electroscope with the wire leads.
2. Charge up the rod as indicated in 5A10.2. Rub charged rod on electroscope and you should see a charge on the electroscope indicating a charge on the capacitor.
